ARES or Amateur Radio Emergency Services is a group of “HAMS” as most refer to Amateur Radio operators that have donated their time and equipment to help the public in times of need. ARES works closely with Emergency management, Red Cross, Salvation army, and many other Emergency services.
What we do is pass traffic that is not critical to other Emergency service operations like fire departments, Law enforcement, and ambulance services. Asking for bottled water to be brought to a local shelter is an example. |
